Welcome to Mom’s Best Nest — a warm, honest, and slightly humorous landing place for Gen-X women navigating the quieter chapter of the nest with faith, practicality, and a whole lot of grace.
I’m Mikki: wife, mom, midlifer, follower of Christ, and a woman who has made more than a few mistakes along the way. I’m grateful every day for a God who keeps showing up and carrying my wobbly wings. I’m not an expert homemaker or decorator or cook, but I’m figuring things out with the mix of frugality, shortcuts, and determination required to keep a home (and a woman) functioning in real life.
This blog began years ago when my nest was loud and full.
Life moved, kids grew, jobs shifted, and the nest got quieter.
Now I’m writing again from a place that’s gentler, funnier, more honest, and hopefully more helpful — not because I’ve mastered anything, but because I haven’t.
Everything here lives within three parts of life that matter most to me:

The heart of the nest. Love, grace, forgiveness, grown-kids-era relationships, friendship, and all the small, meaningful ways we stay connected to our people.
🌿 WELLNESS — tending mind, body & spirit with grace + humor
Faith, health, beauty, style, the real-life side of post-menopause, hair retention attempts, emotional wellness, and all the everyday tools that help me feel more like myself again.
